RP08
RP08 was the successor to the mildly successful RP07. With RP08, came new major features that were considered groundbreaking in terms of setting the scene for new RP servers. It was the first to use major features such as the player Inventory, and possibly the first RP gamemode to use SQL Databases to store all the information.
Major Features in RP08
- Was one of the first gamemodes to make use of the Derma library, which is used widely in the gamemode
- Was the first to use an Inventory system
- Allowed Game - Forum account linking, giving the user access to extra stats.
- Abolished most chat commands.
- Stool doors were Rammable
- Contained an effective hungermod
- Featured instant donater status (if the user donated)
- Had an array of minigames, items and weapons
Main Classes in RP08
Evolution of RP08
RP08 started out with a simple F2 menu, that contained an Inventory, and all the classes. However, as time went on, this increased to contain the store and account linking. Over time, the Gamemode was upgraded with a new look, changing the vgui to what it currently is today, and adding a derma skin. Each class respectively recieved tweeks (check their individual pages) and thus, were effectively balanced creating an opportunist type roleplay, if the situation was right, or the odds were in your favour, you could utilize other people to create a mass event, that would be enjoyable and effective for everyone.
However, during this time conflict also happened with RP08 happened, namely with two developers:PC Camp and Kudomiko. Because of this, RP08 faced setbacks, and also a script leak in this time. Although to date, no one has sucessfully used the script (due to the mass protection surrounding it), it still remains a flaming target for members that find anyone using it who hasn't been given permission.
RP08 was hugely successful, with the server reguarly being full (at 45/45 players) despite the odd downtimes that could occur with Ben's updating, or the bad servers that [BB] had for some time.
