Ovis City
Oviscity is a map that was originally created in Gmod 9, with the map name Oviscity_b9. However, the GMC Community(Gmod Community, this was an actual community, not an official Gmod / Facepunch thing) took the map, decompiled it and remade it as their map. This version was the most common one used in Gmod 10. It was known as rp_oviscity_gmc4.
Map description and features
Oviscity is a small robust map, created by the mapper Ovis for use with general RP scripts. It was considered an early groundbreaking map favoured by many due to the features it had and could do.
Buildings and Features
- Cars (No longer usable due to the Orangebox update that occured with Gmod)
- A Train, however it requires extended knowledge on how to start the train. Scripts were made available on Gmod.org to start the train
- Houses and Apartments. This meant players could feel at home, or roleplay as room mates.
- IKEA - This allowed props to be spawned in game. Someone could own the store, and sell the props for money, thus creating an economy. However this also meant advanced got little or no business in terms of building and construction.
- Post office - The post office was a central hub for players. It was often used as a gunstore because of the storage capabilities it contained. It was very rarely used as a post office, as players could private message each other, and letters were usually given in hand.
- It had a Pizza Parlor with a working oven spawning pizza's. However, the pizza was not edible without a third party script.
- The gangsters had an underground base. Although many would call this a "secret" base, it was known widely to players of it's location, and how to get in.
- There were also stores that allowed you to sell props such as computers, video games, vending machines, and there was an unlimited supply, as they had a respawn button that could recreate the entire room's contents.
- The mayor's office was one that set the standard in terms of mayor offices with RLRP, where there was a security desk, an area for security to relax in, an area for people waiting to see the mayor, and the mayor's room itself.
- A Court was present in Ovis city, however it was rarely used, as criminals tended to get shot before they were brought to justice.
- The map contained a bank, where users could deposit their money and items to be kept safe. There was a lazer vault, that was reinforced with steel doors, deterring anyone apart from the biggest thieves from attacking it.
- A Nuke button (hidden above the bank, in the wall). This was only included on the Gmc4 version, which would ahnilate everything in the map, unless you were indoors. However scripts existed to remove the button, or give notifications if someone pressed it. In [BB], this was autodisabled.
- There were high quality roads and pavements, meaning people with cars could easily drive without knocking someone over
